Pleasant conversations and positive atmosphere at the office were decisive factors during the job interview

For Nisrine, 2023 is all about change. She relocated from her familiar hometown Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands to Antwerp and immediately found her first real job as an HR-Recruiter at Arxus, where she felt right at home. Read below to discover what convinced her to start at Arxus.

After completing my studies, I was eager to step out of my comfort zone. Having always stayed in my familiar surroundings, I was ready to break free from that bubble. Eventually, I set my sights on Antwerp, and shortly after the move, I came across the job opening at Arxus.

Positive atmosphere

The application process went smoothly, consisting of three rounds, where I got to know potential future colleagues. During the first online interview, I received comprehensive information about Arxus itself. The HR team lead reassured me that my lack of IT knowledge wasn't a problem for the HR role. Subsequent interviews at the Kontich office with potential colleagues and the managing partner made me give an instant connection, sensing a positive atmosphere in the workplace.

On my first day, that positive feeling was confirmed. My colleague-recruiter, Mats, welcomed me warmly and in the following weeks, he ensured I smoothly familiarized myself with all processes. I quickly got into the flow. The kick-off event reaffirmed that I had chosen a company that knows how to have fun. It was the ideal opportunity to get to know all my new colleagues better.

Group spirit

The strong group spirit among colleagues became evident early on. Despite having no prior IT knowledge before joining Arxus, which might seem unusual for an IT company, it has never been a problem. I can always count on my more tech-savvy colleagues to help when encountering unfamiliar terms.

When receiving future applicants, I can immediately assure them that they'll join a warm group, always ready to lend a hand. Even individuals without IT knowledge will quickly find their place in the team. Arxus also offers abundant opportunities for learning, from additional courses to helpful colleagues.

First milestone

In the meantime, I have learned a lot and recently made my first hire. It's a significant milestone in my career, and something I am incredibly proud of. I'm certain that more milestones will follow in the coming years.

I have no plans to move back to the Netherlands anytime soon. I am enjoying the Belgian way of life and work immensely. And if I ever miss my friends or family, I can always visit them on weekends - it's just a short trip of about an hour to get back to Alphen aan den Rijn.
